HOW YOU CAN HELP AUSTINPCOS
Become a Board Member
We have several vacant positions due to members moving out of state for economic reasons, and others have resumed college coursework and are left with no additional time to volunteer. We are very sorry for their loss, but we are grateful for the time they have donated to our growth.
The positions available on the Board of Directors are listed below with one or two of the main responsibilities, but there are other duties as well. The time commitment would be about 4 hours per week. We also have a monthly business meeting (usually the first Saturday of the month) as well as a monthly PCOS support meeting (usually the third Saturday of the month). Board tenure is for one year. All directors are encouraged to recruit and supervise volunteers to help them.
Secretary - Maintain corporate documents and records, compose board meeting minutes and support meeting summaries.
Public Relations - Increase media exposure via newspaper, TV, radio, and internet, distribute brochures and other publications.
Community Programs - Promote PCOS education in the healthcare community, maintain records of the lending library, implement other programs.
Information Services - Actively research current articles, obtain reprint permission or provide abstract, provide content for the newsletter.
Inquiry Management - Respond to all inquiries received and handle appropriately, actively post and moderate messages on the web forum.
Become an Advisory Member
We would like to have several advisory board members from the legal field and healthcare community. Advisors will be utilized to review publications for accuracy, present information at our monthly meetings, and provide general assistance and advice as needed.
Contribute Financially
Those wishing to make a financial contribution to our organization should mail a check or money order to the Austin PCOS Organization, PO Box 201161, Austin, Texas 78720-1161. We are a 501(c)(3) public charity so all donations made to our organization are tax deductible.
We do not have any paid employees or office space or other major overhead expenses. AustinPCOS is run exclusively by the volunteer efforts of women in the community with PCOS. Financial contributions are used to pay for things like our post office box, our website domain and hosting, and materials to distribute at our monthly meetings.
We have begun fundraising activites so that we may begin producing materials for publication and distribution. If you would like to find out how you can help in this regard, please email
